The phrase “built not bought” is a common collection of words thrown around in today’s car scene. Many cars proudly wear the sticker and it’s become almost a trend in itself to say your car was built not bought. This car is the true definition of that phrase. The owner of this car Neil wanted to go his own route, always being interested in the JDM/US hatch scene he decided to make his purchase. A 01 Mitsubishi Colt would become his canvas. Ireland has a great deal of love for the Honda and the Toyota, and it’s no lie that these dominate the hatch scene here whilst Honda dominates the Hatch scene in the US. I’ve always wondered what it would be like if an American Honda owner got his hands on a Colt/Mirage and built one with the same love and enthusiasm they seem to have for the Civic, carefully selecting a mixture of performance and OEM parts to build a flawless clean hatch.

Random Juice: Low but not exactly slow.

Some of you may have seen this photo before of this rear end tucked 32 drifting at Hiroshima At least once a week because I’m a sad individual I find myself going back and staring at this picture, I really just love how nuts this 32 looks with the drag wing, VIP wheels with white centers and the drag wing and for some strange reason the GT bonnet seems to add to the look!

Video: The Mazda Story

Feature: Mass Appeal

blues13origin8

Finding an s13 like this in Ireland has started to get rare. Years ago the streets were flooded with s-bodies; everyone and their friend drove a Silvia or a 180sx. The recession kicked in and many who drove these cars were out of work and out of money. This led to a sudden change in the value of these cars, which inevitably led to them, being butchered. Ask yourself, how many nice s13’s are on the road today? On top of that how many of these cars are still daily driven?

Most people in the Honda scene all over the world know this car, its just one of those cars that has been passed around and talked about for years on forum’s and such via photos. After a long and healthy career tearing up race circuits in Japan, this car is now fortunate enough to reside in the extremely capable hands of the Tuning Factory. And where better to shoot this N/A monster than in the workshop that famously maintains it.

This car has the most amazing history of a track car hailing all the way from the land of the rising sun and now the people of Ireland get to witness this amazing spectacle as it sets record times on our home soil.

Drift: Mondello Drift Practice/Tsunami Appeal

I was glad to finally get a chance to cover the Mondello practice, which is held once a month at Mondello Circuit. Each time it had been on so far I couldn’t make it due to some nonsense in hospital but seems how everything was getting better, it was good to get out and start covering again! The day definitely lived up to my expectations. Everybody from all different levels of skill had the chance to hit the track and hone their skills.

Random Juice: When worlds collide

A very tidy EG on some Sprint hart CPR’s aye?  But that’s not the best part, whats really interesting is the fact that the car has been themed to look American (USDM) but is in Japan. The trends have made a full circle and have filtered back across the Pacific.  Continue Reading

Meet: AE86 meet @ Portlaoise 2010

With the weather being so crazy lately it was nice that on the day this meet was organized, there was a cold winter sun on a nice crisp day. This meet was held in Portlaoise. They had set up a Gymkhana course where you could have a little fun if you wanted. Its great to see that Ireland still has a strong following of the 86 and other early RWD chassis from Toyota and a decent amount of cars made an appearance.

Your thinking: What does all this have to do with cars? Well for a few years now we have been saving random pictures of cars which have had some sort of face. In here are the good the bad and the ugly of face/off car’s. We decided to get them all together instead of laughing at someones bad body kitted car for a change… oh wait some cars in here are bad body kitted cars. Oh no! Continue Reading
