Events: Straightliners Enniskillen September 2010

The trip was nice and long, and it wasn’t looking very promising as the rain decided to pour down just before we made it to Enniskillen. Typical Irish weather which really isn’t the best of friends with drag racing.

Taylor and Magoo has worked has to get the car in order for straight liners but it seemed luck wasn’t on their side for this one. Even though this time the car was well prepped and ready a week before the event instead of an hour before!! The car has gone through a lot of new changes since the last time also and is a shit load quicker.

Breakfast of champions!!

There was hope as the track started to dry up, this 200sx was back from its explosion last time!

There was a whole range of different cars here this time around which was good to see. Taylor has just finished rebuilding his EG, and he was curious to see how it would run as it was never timed before.

So he stuck on his magic hat..

The car is a beast, as you can tell from this picture. Even though it was wet he was pulling low 13’s. You can imagine that it will be a lot lower in the dry.

Barry Rabbitt brought the Tuning factory N/A beast and a couple of Golfs.

Like this MK1 for example, which looked like it was just up there for the show.

But turned out to be an absolute sleeper.

What a cool little car.

This s14 definitely looked loud!

Jamie brought his Integra, the ground was drying out with the heat of the cars. This was definitly turning into a promising scenario for everyone.

Smoke was even starting to come from Magoo’s tires as the Micky Thompson’s cried out for some dry tarmac.

This didn’t really stop a lot of people, especially in the rain… haha

I spy three of the fastest cars in the country..

Keelan definitely couldn’t find the grip to put down the power of his k20 in the wet, it was a day for the 4wd’s…

I definitely didn’t think bikes would be running in the wet, never mind pulling wheelies haha. Insane.

Jackie’s car always looks good, regardless of how fast it goes!

As it started to dry things were really looking up, especially for the FF guys.

The times were starting to go down..

Anybody know what kind of Mitsubishi this is??

Haha, good old saxo’s…

This has to be one of the nicest in the country.

This was looking mean as fuck.

A little too vinyl crazy maybe?

I couldn’t help but enjoy this super mint looking silver EK9.

This GC P1 was setting some serious times.

This bagged variant was certainly one of the nicest looking cars at the event, Ive never really seen anyone have much love for the mk4 variant. Everything about this was good.

Yes.

A very nice car indeed.

This blue EK was looking damn good going down the straight.

Just when things were looking good, as usual the rain came poring down. Soaking the track and fucking everything up for everyone, again! The tuning factory tent came in pretty handy.

These looked like the didnt work so well.

While the rain poured down, Doogie introduced me to his 50+ euros collection of air fresheners.

And I’m going to introduce you to this heart attack. Now it may look bad to some people, and it may look like heaven to others. The second would be right. This thing was incredible, this double burger with relish and onion and some smoked bacon was the best part of the whole day. Even typing this makes my mouth water and makes me want to go and find another.

The rain didn’t seem to kill the spirits as many people stayed to enjoy the day.

The track was soaked, which instead of killing the day, it made things more interesting as launches would be crucial and any car could be in with a chance.

A very unusual battle indeed.

Or how about this?

Or this?

Against the quad, everything had just turned mad max or looked like the end of that Tupac video remake.

The R33 looks so mean with the headlight feed.

Taylor was having some misfire action going on, and with a little check it turned out to be this little fucker.

He ended up going up against Magoo’s car and managed to keep in right to the end in the wet. Definitly two of the fastest Hondas in the country.

Probably the only girl out racing, Clo was doing very well for the wetness.

Its a shame, if the water wasn’t there, these tires would be eating the road.

Love this colour on the EG.

It was truly a day for the 4wd cars. Especially in the rain which continued to pour down making the track super dodgy.

It was cool to see a bit of rotary out on the track.

The 4wd which made up pretty much all of the top class cars were getting some serious times for the wet..

Its funny to see an Impreza eat a Tvr down the straight.

Magoo was still holding it down for the Honda. But just couldn’t get the grip to beat the cossie.

It definitely must suck when a car dies at the starting line.

This was the best race of the day.

Martin Tracey’s infamous Evo 4 against the bnr33gtr. The GTR had a pretty bad launch.

But it was packing some serious horses it seemed, as it caught up with the Evo in no time.

It didn’t get to him before the finish line, but holy shit did it catch him to the end. I would love to have seen this battle in the dry or even see that GTR in the dry.

The crowd watched as the final battle went ahead between the CN9A and the GC P1. Both cars were setting the fastest of the day and the P1 broke the ten barrier in the wet.

The P1 didn’t have as good of a run in the final against Tracey’s EVO 4 which made Tracey the winner for the second time this year.

Just as we were leaving, Magoo’s name was called out to go collect a trophy. So he ran like Forest Gump for that shit! As you would.

Then we took this dead serious picture. Good Job The car still hasn’t put down some proper dry times which is a shame, hopefully iy can get a result before the end of the year. Thanks to the weather for fucking up the day, and as usual it started to dry up just as the event was over. Good old Ireland.

This was a nice end to the day. Just as we were getting petrol on the border, this Iron Maiden themed R6 was doing 90mph standing up wheelies for at least 20 minutes. Not a cop in sight, what a cool place haha.
